Unmasking The Truth: A Voyage To Timor-Leste

Greetings to our dedicated followers and fellow conservation enthusiasts! We bring exciting news from the front lines of marine conservation. Our dynamic Director for SFB Malaysia, Terence Lim, recently embarked on a vital journey to the beautiful nation of Timor-Leste.

Timor-Leste, also known as East Timor, is a captivating land with a rich cultural tapestry and an immense marine biodiversity. Yet, like many other places, it's facing a growing concern - fish bombing, an illegal fishing method that's wreaking havoc on our oceans.

Terence's journey had a twofold purpose. First, he aimed to immerse himself in the local culture and lifestyle, believing that true understanding can only be achieved by experiencing a place and its people first-hand. Second, he sought to investigate the local fish bombing situation. Though informed by local fishermen about ongoing fish bombing practices, empirical data and evidence were required to substantiate these claims and determine the scale of the issue.

The local community warmly welcomed Terence, eager to share their experiences and observations. Their testimonies provided invaluable insights and painted a picture of the fish bombing situation, but to carry out our mission, we need robust data. Thus, the groundwork has been laid for deploying our sensors, subject to further analysis and feasibility studies.

A highlight of Terence's journey was his meeting with none other than Jose Ramos-Horta, a revered figure in Timor-Leste, and a Nobel Peace Prize laureate. Ramos-Horta has been a steadfast supporter of our cause to Stop Fish Bombing (SFB), and this meeting was an opportunity for Terence to personally thank him for his invaluable support.

Ramos-Horta's backing has been a beacon of hope for us at SFB, reminding us that our mission transcends borders and unites people under a common goal – the preservation and protection of our marine life.

Terence's voyage to Timor-Leste is a step forward in our fight against fish bombing. The insights we've gathered from his trip will help shape our strategy and efforts in this region. We understand that this fight isn't a sprint but a marathon. Nonetheless, we're committed to staying the course and working tirelessly until we see a world where our marine ecosystems can thrive without the threat of fish bombing.

Stay tuned for updates as we continue to analyze our findings and devise an effective action plan. Together, we can stop fish bombing and secure a vibrant future for our ocean.
