Stop Fish Bombing And CSIRO Agree To Collaborate

Earth Island Institute’s project Stop Fish Bombing USA has agreed to start up a collaborative effort with Australia’s CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial  Research Organization) around blast fishing.

Much like SFB's efforts in Sabah, CSIRO is working on new and innovative ways of combating illegal blast fishing including prototype hydrophones which they have agreed to loan to SFB in exchange for data transparency.

The goal for collaborating and sharing data on fish bomb explosions, including both experimental detonations and detonations detected by hydrophones, is to boost and refine both SFB’s and CSIRO's blast detection software.
